Adoption Process

By adopting a cat from Wonder Cat Rescue, you’re making a commitment to provide love, care, and medical treatment for the life of the cat, which can be up to 20 years or more. Adopting a cat is a serious decision, but a very rewarding one!

If you are looking to adopt a kitten read about why we ask that kittens be adopted in pairs or to a home with resident cats. Click here.

We are a small group and know each of our cats/kittens personally. Therefore we make every effort to make the best possible match when placing our cats/kittens with new families. Once you submit an application you will be contacted if the particular cat/kitten you are interested in is a good match for you. Many times kittens have several interested parties and you will be contacted if/when a meeting is appropriate. When cats have a ‘pending’ banner, it means we are no longer accepting applications, and he/she will be placed in their forever home soon. Each adoptive home is screened carefully, and a lot of support is given to make sure the adoption is a success. If circumstances change, we ask that you contact us immediately and work with us to find a suitable alternative home. We do not ship under any circumstances and we only adopt to homes in the SF Bay Area.

When you adopt from Wonder Cat Rescue, the required adoption donation is $125.00. This includes the following veterinary services unless otherwise stated in the adoption contract: vet exam, spay/neuter, FeLV/FIV testing, FVRCP vaccination, de-flea, de-worm and microchip. Many of our cats have also received additional vet care as needed, such as surgery for injuries or congenital problems, treatment for ear, eye, upper respiratory infections, and viruses.

To adopt a cat, please complete and submit our Adoption Application and we’ll be in touch.
